Halo & Swoon Is Certified Gluten Free

At Halo & Swoon we believe in providing delicious, plant-based, allergy-friendly baking mixes that can be enjoyed by all. Read on to hear about the measures we take to ensure our baking mixes can be trusted by those with allergies and dietary restrictions.

A key driver for us to create Halo & Swoon was to provide tasty, healthy treats that could be enjoyed by all, including those with dietary restrictions.

Food allergies have become more prevalent, with New Zealand having some of the highest rates of childhood allergies among developed countries (see Allergy NZ).

We know first hand how hard it can be trying to find healthy and tasty snacks, that you can trust are allergy-friendly. So we made it our mission to ensure that our organic plant-based baking mixes are safe to eat for those with allergies and Coeliac disease. Our mixes are what we call “lunchbox friendly”, meaning they are free from the top 8 food allergens - gluten, dairy, eggs, fish, shell fish, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame (with the exception of Scone Dough and Seeded Cracker - see further below).

All our ingredients are allergy-friendly, and we have ensured there are no issues with cross contamination through the supply chain. We manufacture our products on production lines placed in allergy specific rooms, so there are no issues of cross contamination.

All our products have the Crossed Grain Logo™ accreditation by Coeliac New Zealand. Meaning our products are regularly tested and have no detectable gluten, nor oats or their products, nor cereals containing gluten that may have been malted or their products. All our products are also manufactured on an entirely gluten-free production line.

As noted above, our Scone Dough contains ground almonds and is our only mix that is made with nuts. This particular mix is produced on equipment that is contained in an entirely separate room from the room that produces the rest of our nut-free mixes - therefore eliminating the risk of cross contamination.

The room that produces Scone Dough also produces products that contain peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds and soy. Because of this, our Seeded Cracker, which contains sesame seeds, is also produced in this room. This is why our packaging clearly states that Seeded Cracker is not nut-free and states that it may contain traces of peanuts, tree nuts and soy, and Scone Dough may contain traces of other tree nuts, peanuts, sesame and soy.

Ultimately, we have ensured that our allergy-friendly mixes can be trusted, giving delicious peace of mind to those with dietary restrictions.
