Chocolate Avocado Frosting

This frosting recipe is super rich and chocolatey, with a delicious mousse-like texture. It's completely vegan and refined sugar free, and goes perfectly with Halo & Swoon's chocolate cake mix.

We absolutely love this chocolate avocado frosting recipe, and hope you do too!

It’s super rich and chocolatey, with a delicious mousse-like texture. Best of all, it has 2 whole avocados hidden away inside, but trust us, you can’t taste them so no one would ever guess!

This recipe makes enough for a generously frosted batch of 12 Halo & Swoon cupcakes or one Halo & Swoon cake. If you prefer a thin layer of frosting simply halve the recipe.

Any leftover frosting can be scooped into bowls and served as a chocolate avocado mousse, or blended up with a frozen banana and plant milk for a chocolate smoothie!

Chocolate Avocado Frosting

Serves: 12
Prep time: 30 minutes Bake time: 25 minutes

1 Halo & Swoon Chocolate Cake mix

2 ripe avocados

1/2 cup raw cacao powder

14 Tbsp (300g) pure maple syrup

2 tsp vanilla essence

2 pinches salt

To make the cupcakes, follow the instructions on the packet to make up the mix and bake 12 chocolate cupcakes. Allow to cool fully before frosting.

To make the chocolate avocado frosting, place all the ingredients into a high speed blender and blend on high until smooth. You may need to stop and scrape the sides down to ensure all the avocado is fully blended.

Dollop generous spoonfuls of frosting on top of each cupcake and use a knife to smooth into a delicious chocolate swirl.

Serve cupcakes immediately or chill in a sealed container in the fridge until required. Chocolate avocado frosting will keep up to 3 days in the fridge.
