Our Products

Do your products contain allergens?

Most of our products are free from the top 8 allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, gluten, dairy, soy, shellfish and fish). All of our mixes are manufactured in a facility that ensures that there is no cross-contamination between allergens so you can share with confidence.
Our Scone Dough contains ground almonds and our Seeded Crackers contain sesame seeds, so each of these mixes are produced in a separate room from our other mixes to ensure there is no risk of cross-contamination.

Are your mixes gluten-free?

Yes absolutely! All Halo and Swoon baking mixes are gluten-free. All our products are produced in a facility that is gluten-free, ensuring there is no risk of cross-contamination.

Our baking mixes have the Crossed Grain Logo™ accreditation by Coeliac New Zealand. Meaning our products are regularly tested and have no detectable gluten, nor oats or their products, nor cereals containing gluten that may have been malted or their products. Read more about this in our blog post here.

Are your mixes organic?

Yes, all our baking mixes are organic. Choosing organic is important to us, so we have ensured that our ingredients are certified organic, from a sustainable, ecologically-friendly and socially responsible source.

Are your products vegan?

Yes, all of our products are vegan. They contain no animal or animal-derived products. To make life even easier, we have ensured that our mixes work without the need to add an egg replacer!

Are Halo and Swoon baking mixes dairy-free?

All Halo and Swoon mixes are dairy-free. You can choose whether to add a dairy or plant-based milk. We do, however, recommend using plant-based milks with our mixes.

Are Halo and Swoon baking mixes refined sugar free?

Yes! All our baking mixes do not use refined sugar (cane sugar or brown sugar). Instead we sweeten our baking mixes with organic coconut and rapadura sugars. Our organic coconut sugar is simply evaporated nectar from the flowers of coconut palms. Because it is minimally processed it retains more nutrients unlike more processed sugars.

Our organic rapadura sugar is also minimally processed and retains more molasses. It therefore contains less sucrose than refined sugar which gives rapadura sugar a lower GI. Click here to read more about our ingredients.

Do Halo and Swoon baking mixes contain nuts?

Our Scone Dough contains ground almonds and our Seeded Crackers contain sesame seeds which are considered an allergen, so each of these mixes are produced in a separate room from our other mixes to ensure there is no risk of cross-contamination. Our other mixes are entirely nut-free.

Do Halo and Swoon products contain corn?

Our products do not contain corn! However, they do contain a small quantity of corn derived ingredients (maize starch) found in our baking powder. For more information check out our product pages that contain a full list of ingredients for each mix, along with our ingredients page. All of our products and ingredients are non-GMO.

Baking Tips

I am not a baker, will I able to make your mixes?

Yes, absolutely. We wanted to ensure that our baking mixes were quick and easy-to-bake, even for those who don’t bake. So much so, that our co-founder Sarah (who has no baking experience) has tested out each mix to ensure they work - every time! All you have to do is follow the instructions on the back of the pack, add a couple of ingredients, bake, and watch your tasty treats be devoured by your friends and family.

What can I substitute for coconut oil?

We suggest using coconut oil in our baking mixes because of its sweet flavour, and due to its high lauric acid content, coconut oil is resistant to oxidation at high baking temperatures.

You can substitute coconut oil with any other mild flavoured oil such as sunflower oil or light olive oil. Butter will also work.

Can I use regular dairy milk instead of plant milk?

Yes, Halo & Swoon baking mixes will also work with dairy based milks.

How long will your Halo and Swoon treats last?

Assuming you have resisted the temptation to devour all your Halo and Swoon treats in one sitting, here’s our recommendations on storage:

- Chocolate cake and cupcakes: Store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to five days. Freeze for up to 2 months.

- Ginger Cookies and Choc Chip Cookies: Store in an airtight container in the pantry for up to five days. Freeze for up to 2 months.

- Sweet and savoury scones: Best eaten warm. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to two days. To make them last longer, simply reheat by placing in a hot oven for 5 minutes, and enjoy!

- Seeded Crackers: Store in an airtight container for up to 4 weeks.

What is the shelf life of Halo and Swoon mixes?

The best before date is 12 months from when the mix was produced.
